The two graphs show the results of a survey which sampled 1600 Australian students about how they used computers at home and university in the years 2001 and 2002. Obviously, computer use had grown dramatically during the period surveyed.
In 2001, although online facilities were already quite popular with students (68% of the students used online services), only 17% of them had ever submitted their work online. However, both percentages rose sharply to 96%and 98% respectively in 2002.
Among those who used computers for their study, 50% of them(800 students)did so at home in 2001, and the percentage grew substantially to 75% (1200 students) in 2002. Meanwhile, the number of students who used computers at university showed a gradual decline from 480 in 2001 to approximately 300 in 2002, less than 20 % of the total students. On the other hand, only a fractional number of students said they didn't have a computer in 2002, which was quite a dramatic improvement as compared with the number in the previous year -about 320 students.
In summary, we can see that more and more Australian students prefer to use online facilities and submit their course work via the Internet. Moreover, locations of using computers by Australian students tend to be shifting from the university towards their homes.
