Sample Essay
A courthouse is an important installation in any area. When the government decides to build a new courthouse my area, the news will not be accepted without some protest and discussion. Some people will see it as a source of employment and convenience; others will think it will bring undesirable people into the community. The advantage and disadvantages of having a courthouse in my community have a lot to do with who will be using the facility.
Some people think that a courthouse will bring jobs to the area. First of all, there will be construction done for at least a year. Then there will be jobs in maintenance and security at the courthouse. Lawyers and paralegals will find it convenient to live and work in this area,and those with legal matters to attend to at courthouse will approve of the location.
On the other hand, there are those who do not agree that a new courthouse in the area is a good idea. They object because a courthouse means people who are being prosecuted for crimes will have to be brought to the courthouse trial. To them, this means that criminals will be moving around in the community and posing a threat to the residents, especially if they escape from custody. Then there are the criminals who come to support their friends and who might steal something while they are in the area. These residents in the community are concerned about the element the courthouse will attract.
There are two ways to look at the possibility of a new courthouse in my community. It can be a positive offering jobs and convenience; or it can be a place that attracts the kind of criminal element no neighborho welcome.
